1980’S

In the 1980s, Ray Mallock founded RML Group (originally Ray Mallock Ltd), establishing the company as a key player in motorsport engineering. We quickly gained prominence in touring car and sports car racing, developing and running high-performance vehicles that set new standards in the industry.

 

Led by our founder Ray Mallock, a skilled driver and engineer, we achieved significant success across multiple championships. Our engineering expertise and race-winning cars, such as our involvement with prominent teams and manufacturers, helped lay the foundation for RML’s future as a leading force in motorsport and automotive engineering. This decade marked the beginning of our legacy of innovation, precision, and excellence.

1990’S

In the 1990s, we cemented our reputation as a leading motorsport engineering company. This decade saw us achieve significant success in both touring car and endurance racing, collaborating with major manufacturers and engineering high-performance, race-winning vehicles.​

 

We played a key role in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), engineering competitive cars for Vauxhall, Nissan, and Opel, securing multiple victories and championships. Our commitment to excellence also saw us expand into endurance racing, where we contributed to events such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the World Sportscar Championship. This period was pivotal in establishing RML as a premier motorsport and automotive engineering powerhouse, known for pushing the boundaries of performance, precision, and innovation.

2000’S

In the 2000s, we experienced significant growth and success in motorsport, competing in various race series and securing multiple victories. This decade saw us solidify our reputation as a leading engineering partner for top manufacturers, delivering race-winning performance across multiple disciplines.​

We played a key role in touring car racing, from engineering the Nissan Primera Super Touring car to dominating the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) with the Chevrolet Lacetti and Cruze, securing multiple wins and championships. Our success extended beyond touring cars, as we became a key player in endurance racing, developing and running the MG-Lola EX257 in the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Le Mans Series.​

In addition to our motorsport achievements, we expanded our expertise into high-performance automotive engineering, working on bespoke projects for major manufacturers. This decade marked a turning point for RML, establishing us as not only a dominant force in motorsport but also an industry leader in advanced vehicle development and engineering solutions.

2010’S

In the 2010’s we continued to maintain success in various motorsport disciplines which included multiple wins in World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) with the Chevrolet Cruze as well as engineering the Nissan ZEOD RC, where we entered in the Le Mans 24 Garage 56 and successfully completed a fully electric lap at Le Mans.

Beyond motorsport, we expanded into high-performance road car engineering, collaborating with major manufacturers to deliver cutting-edge solutions. This decade marked a shift towards broader automotive projects while maintaining our motorsport expertise, further showcasing our capabilities in special vehicle development.

2020’S

In the 2020s, we have continued to build on our legacy of engineering excellence, expanding our focus to deliver bespoke solutions for both motorsport and high-performance road cars. To support the growing demand for electrification, we established a state-of-the-art battery facility, providing cutting-edge technology to an evolving industry.

While broadening our work with OEMs, we have remained deeply rooted in motorsport. As the official technical partner for the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), we continue to play a pivotal role in shaping the series’ engineering landscape. We also support Ray Mallock in his historic racing endeavours with the Mallock U2, demonstrating our passion for motorsport across all levels.

To drive innovation and specialisation, we have structured our expertise into four key divisions: RML Power, RML Engineering, RML Motorsport, and RML Bespoke, ensuring we remain at the forefront of performance and advanced vehicle development.
